Unveiled

“When God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We’re free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.”

(2 Corinthians 3: 17&18 - TM)

“As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the person.”

(Proverbs 27:19 - NLT)

“Without a cloud between – to see Him face to face….”

(Hymn - Albert Midlane)

There are occasions when we catch the glimpse of an unveiled face. Perhaps in a passing bus, train or car – faces that are not aware anyone else has seen them. They may be peaceful faces, content faces, faces of despair, boredom or even anger. Such unguarded, unveiled expressions reveal the true heart!

To be reflectors of the Glory of the Father our faces must be totally unveiled in his presence. The unveiled face has no covering – no mask and no cloud – nothing is hidden. There are no secrets; nothing kept back. When the face is unveiled toward our Father – his pure light can flow freely to us and we in turn can reflect His glory to others. After Moses encounter with God his face shone so brightly that he had to cover it in the presence of other people (See – Exodus 34:29). Yet – when he held communion with God, he removed the covering. In the place of intimate communion there can be no veil!

If we are honest most of us will admit that we wear a “mask” much of the time. We do not live with unveiled faces – it is far too dangerous – or so we think. Yet a mask will do something we have already said should never be done – it will refract (bend or twist) light. Masks, clouds and coverings are the root reason for lack of true fellowship with our Father and with our brothers and sisters. Our daily prayer needs to be that of the hymn writer - “Without a cloud between – to see Him face to face….”
