Reflections
Should we wish a mirror to reflect our likeness we must stand near to it and have positioned ourselves correctly in relation to it. In a similar way to reflect the glory of God we must live close to him and be in a position where we can accurately reflect His face.
It is because Father God has been misrepresented and his image improperly reflected that there is so much misunderstanding of his true heart. If we have a twisted understanding of his nature – then we can never understand him or reflect his true heart to others.
Tragically many people doubt that the face of Jesus really is the face of the Father. Consequently they live with a hidden fear that God is not really as loving, as kind, or as full of grace and goodness as Jesus showed him to be.
Some Christian hymns can also be unhelpful. One old hymn, went like this – “Behind a frowning providence he hides a smiling face”. Some, if not many, live with an inverted version of this – “behind a smiling face he hides a frowning providence”! Such an opinion will have a devastating effect on our relationship with God and with others. It is of vital importance that we live close and are correctly positioned in our relationship with the Father – so that we are true reflectors of His face.
