Healing Wings
The wilderness experience, dark night or season of pain although never pleasant can be a place of incredible blessing!
We do not seek these things or long for them – yet they come to most of us - for the path to blessing and usefulness is, very often, by way of the wilderness. It is a fact that God’s best men and women were and are people who have come through the valley or wilderness.
Consider Moses – a man who had in all probability resigned himself to wilderness life after forty years! And David the shepherd boy who spent long periods of isolation with only his sheep for company.
The wilderness therefore is not a place to be despised and from which we seek the quickest way of escape, but a place we respect and where we are forced to rely, as never before, on the sustaining, healing and restorative power of God. It is the place we will learn life’s most important lessons and where our character is formed.
In the wilderness God becomes our only source of sustenance, strength, healing and hope. In the wilderness we are prepared for any battle and any blessing. Yes – “The wilderness becomes a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy.” (Psalm 63: 12 – NLT)
