Stillness

“I wait quietly before God”

(Psalm 62:1 NLT)

Most of us are not good at waiting – we want things and we want them now! Yet in the economy of heaven there is no substitute for waiting and stillness. In the realms of human romance - peace, preparation and ambience are all considered important. In our romance with The Heavenly Lover it s no different! He calls us to come away from the busy demands of life – to spend time in his presence. In a world of competing demands, business and stress “quietness” is rarely found by accident – it must be factored in to our lives. This may demand ruthlessness, sacrifice and determination. However, the experience of His presence will ensure that these are driven by desire, not obligation.

It is, so often, in the quietness and stillness that he comes near to us – enfolding us in His arms of love and peace. It is my experience that in this place – where we rest, with no word spoken, totally enthralled by his presence – Father’s greatest “work” is accomplished in our lives and in the lives of others. There can be no substitute for waiting quietly for Him and when he graces us with the incredible sense and experience of his presence we are spoiled forever – nothing else will ever satisfy.
