“I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and beauty”
(Psalm 63:2 NLT)
As we have said already the presence of God not a theory to be debated – but an experience to be enjoyed. Here we move beyond theology, debate and supposition. All of these can and may change – but once experienced the tangible knowledge of His presence can never be argued or debated away. The one who has experienced the intimacy of his presence will say with David – “I have seen you, I have gazed upon you, I have beheld your beauty, felt your power, love and majesty”. Consequently this experience becomes a solid rock – for it is not based on knowledge and reason alone but on irrefutable experience.
It is to be feared that much of what passes for true religion in our day is simply a theoretical apprehension of theological facts. From these, all to often, come argument, endless debate and division. However those who have become recipients of His presence are joined together in an unseen but glorious unity which is unique to those who have truly known His presence!
